FAME is bursting back onto stages in a 30th anniversary tour by the Selladoor production team. It’ll blow away the January blues and make you find your dancing shoes!
From TV to film to stage FAME has proved it stands strong on all platforms and is back after seven West End runs since opening on Broadway in 1988. It’s here to show that this iconic musical will never grow old or tired.
With some famous faces starring in the much loved roles, this production promises incredible acting, dancing and singing. Bringing their triple threats are Keith Jack from Any Dream Will Do, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat who plays Nick Piazza, Mica Paris from Love Me Tender, Chicago, Mama I Want To Sing as the legendary Miss Sherman and Jorgie Porter from Hollyoaks, Dancing On Ice who has taken on the role of Iris Kelly.
David De Silva – the conceiver of Fame (a.k.a ‘Father Fame’) told Broadway World: “What makes a musical ‘a classic’ or a ‘masterpiece’? It takes time. It passes from one generation to the next.
“It translates from one language to many. It entertains an audience with both laughter and tears. It inspires youth with passion and parents with nostalgia. The brilliantly directed and choreographed 30th anniversary Fame UK production of the show by Nick Winston is the best I’ve ever seen”
The story follows a group of students at a performing arts school as they are met with not only stressful exams and the world of romance but be faced with issues such as prejudice, identity and sexuality. Will they fight their battles and manage to ‘live forever’?
Expect themes of grit, perseverance and determination, stories filled with emotion, trouble and triumph and musical numbers with high standards of singing and dancing. You won’t want to miss out!
Fame is on at the Cheltenham Everyman Theatre until Saturday 26th January. Head to https://www.everymantheatre.org.uk/m-shows/fame/ to get your tickets now.
